BIG THANK YOU

Immediately after our first big rain and flood event of July 2025, it was discovered that a water leak had developed in the Llano Kitty Fixers’ transport vehicle leaving a puddle of water in the front driver’s side floorboard.   I knew that the husband of Llano Kitty Fixers member Angela Smith works at T Paint & Body in Llano so I put a call in for help.   Angela’s husband, JW Smith, came to us to assess the problem.  After soaking the car with the garden hose, JW determined that the problem was that the driver’s side roof rack rail was leaking.  Being a 2010 model it is not unforeseeable that rubber seals can deteriorate.   Two days later, JW came to us and took the car to the T Paint & Body shop where JW removed the headliner, removed both rails, replaced bolts and washers, sealed the washers and bolts, and put the headliner back on.  Llano Kitty Fixers now has a transport vehicle with no leaks, Yippee.   And to top things off, JW Smith and T Paint & Body donated to Llano Kitty Fixers 100% of the value of the parts and labor involved in repairing our transport vehicle.

We, at Llano Kitty Fixers, and our client cats, want to extend our most sincere Thank You to our member, Angela Smith, her husband, JW Smith, and to T Paint & Body of Llano for your participation and generosity in the repairs to our transport vehicle.

BIG THANK YOU - SEPTEMBER 11, 2025

Recently our company transport vehicle, a 2010 station wagon,  surprised us with a notice on the dashboard that an airbag needed servicing.   We also knew that the front headlights needed to be replaced.   We decided to take the vehicle to the repair shop of one of our routine donors, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Schneider, owners of Lliberty Auto Works, 907 Birmingham Ave., Llano.   It was also determined that the vehicle was in need of a new battery.   The work was done promptly and we were pleased with the performance of the vehicle after the repairs.    Considering the amount of time that Mr. Schneider had to put into these repairs, we expected to have to pay a substantial amount.   Yet it turns out that Mr. Schneider, being an avid cat person and a big supporter of Llano Kitty Fixers, gave us a quite significant discount on the labor.

So thank you very much, Mr. and Mrs. Schneider, for all your help in getting our vehicle in and out so quickly as well as being such a kind supporter of Llano Kitty Fixers.

BIG THANK YOU - DECEMBER 12, 2025

I want to put out a big THANK YOU to Jody Ewen for donating 18 full 55 gallon yard bags of aluminum beverage cans to Llano Kitty Fixers. I know that we have not been mentioning cans much lately but we are still accepting them to raise money to help spay and neuter cats in Llano County.

Currently the only drop off point for cans is at the Llano City Golf Course. Look for the large red barrels with signs “Cans for Kitties”. For loose cans just place them in the barrel. For larger amounts that are secured in trash bags or yard bags, just place the bags next to the barrel.

We are working to secure at least one other drop off location in the very near future.

If you have a large number of bags full of aluminum beverage cans or if you are unable to take them to the golf course, email us at [email protected].

Please note: we are presently not able to accept steel cans, pet food cans, or any type of can that is not an aluminum beverage can. All aluminum beverage cans are acceptable regardless of size.

Again, Jody Ewen, we thank you.

Junk in the Trunk Event on July 26, 2025

On July 26th we had a good number of folks attending the Junk in the Trunk event at the Llano Courthouse Square.   Junk in the Trunk is the monthly event where vendors offer new and used items for sale much like a garage sale.   As for Llano Kitty Fixers, the items we offer are donated by our members as well as supporters of our organization.  You can always count on finding a variety of interesting items at our booth for great bargains.   For example, this time we had a lady’s purse that was literally made in the style of a miniature horse saddle.  The toolwork and stitching was amazing.  It even had stirrups and a saddle horn.   Household items, tools, sports gear, fishing gear, electronics, etc.  You never know what you will find here.

Our next event is the Farmers Market on August 2nd from 8am to noon.  We welcome donations of baked goods and handmade crafts.  Interested in yummy goodies?  Come by and see what we offer.

August 11, 2025 Trapping Event

We just had a successful trapping of cats that are going to the vet tomorrow morning to be spayed or neutered. They are being staged before the procedure in the new “cat room” that was built by two of our members as part of their new workshop. We are so grateful to Mark and Linda for spending the extra funds to make this room exactly what we needed for year round staging. Not only are the walls and floor designed for sanitation in mind, but the room is climate controlled and has plenty of space to work in as well as to store supplies and gear.

August 29, 2025  Lantex Theater Event

Wow, we had a great time hosting the concession stand at the Lantex Theater in Llano last night. The movie was Jaws 50th Anniversary. I am told that the theater had 95 patrons. And I can tell you that from the time that the doors opened to a little after the movie started playing, we had the lobby was full of folks waiting to get the delicious snacks and drinks that we had to offer. I thank all of the patrons for being patient as we provided each and every one of them personal service. With Gordon Muth on popcorn station, Linda Hannifin on drinks station, Ramona Dahl on candy station, and myself, Gary Bunyard, working the register, we were able to get through the rush period in a smooth and efficient manner as far as I could tell. And best of all, the money that Llano Kitty Fixers will be receiving for hosting the concession stand is all going to the costs and overhead expenses of our work in trapping, spay/neuter/vaccinate, and return of the stray and feral cats in Llano County.

And finally, I want to give a big thanks to George Fricke, theater manager, for inviting Llano Kitty Fixers to host the concession stand.

Thanks, one and all.
